is it better to use My Company or create a fresh new company when starting a new company in business central?

    When you use the Create New Company assisted setup guide, you can choose the "Production – Setup Data Only" template. This provides a clean start with essential configuration data like the Chart of Accounts and posting groups but without the clutter of demonstration or trial data. While "My Company" is an empty company provided by default, creating a fresh one allows you to clearly define the company name from the start and ensures you are following a structured deployment process as recommended by Microsoft.

    Hi,
     
    In any case it is better to create a new company when you are setting up new entity in business central.
     
    However while creating new company in the wizard you will be asked to select the type, Production - Setup Data only, Create New - No Data or Evaluation - Sample data.
     
    In most of the case you should use Production - Setup Data only, as this comes with all the basics setup already done, basic masters uploaded etc. You can then take from there to upload normal masters, opening upload and Go-live.
     
    If you are experienced professional you can try Create New - No data with caution. In any case it is not suggested to select Sample data.
