How to extend tables or fields in Business Performance Analytics (BPA) datasets

Business Performance Analytics (BPA) comes with many built-in reports that all use the same dataset. If I want to add a field or a table to this dataset, or even build a separate custom dataset, how should I proceed? The methods I've seen so far involve linking to Fabric and operating within Fabric; I haven't found a way to customize it directly within BPA. However, according to Microsoft's documentation on extension scenarios, it is possible to extend the dataset within BPA, but no specific operational method is provided. Please advise. Thank you!

The way you are looking at, is not supported by Microsoft as of today.
