Hi Everyone,

While attempting to release the order to the warehouse, we are encountering the following error, even though sufficient on‑hand stock is available:

Error Description:

Item allocation failed. Location directive failure for work order type ‘Sales orders’ does not allow work creation without location (Pick).

Requesting your assistance in resolving this issue at the earliest.

Thank you.

Regards,

Shariff

    Hi Shariff,

Could you check whether the pick location is part of the location directive query for work order type "Sales orders"?

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

    Hi Shariff,

Have you tried using a Location profile ID instead of Locations and assign required Location profile ID in the Location Directive Actions Query?

    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi Shariiff,

What's the setting for the location directive action in your case?

The pick location "must be available for the location directive with work order type "sales orders", otherwise the system cannot determine the pick location.

    Best regards,
    Laurens van der Tang

Based on your current setup, the system is configured to pick inventory from any available location. A specific location or location profile is not mandatory in this setup.

Could you please check whether your sales order contains multiple lines, and whether inventory from multiple locations is being stored in a single destination location? If so, please ensure that your Location Directive is configured to allow multiple items/locations, and that the destination Location Profile is enabled for mixed inventory.

Alternatively, please verify whether you are trying to restrict the UOM during the picking process. Also, make sure that if pick location is Non-LP controlled, while the put location must is LP-enabled.

    Hi,

There are multiple ways for resolving the issue. It depends how the location directive was configured. Sales orders LD has to be defined for work type=Pick, Scope for Single or multiple items ,valid quantities, UOM , Directive code, Valid locations/profiles from where the stock has to be picked etc. Also, please check the Work template.

I came across the same error and resolved by configured the LD based on the requirement.

    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hi All,

Thanks for all your quick responses.

Please find the Location directive settings.

Even after defining the on‑hand available location, I am still getting the same error.

    Kind Regards,
    Shariff

    Hi Shariff

    Is the item "Batch controlled"?
Also, "Restrict by Unit" was marked in the lines. Hope the right UOM was selected in the SO line

    Regards,
    Venkat
