We need the complete and proper process to upgrade Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises from version 24 to version 27. Please share the recommended steps, prerequisites, and best practices.

Hello,

Upgrading Business Central on-premises from v24 to v27 must be done step-by-step and cannot be done directly. The supported path is v24 → v25 → v26 → v27, and each step is a full technical and data upgrade. For every version, you back up the database and extensions, recompile and fix custom code, install the new BC binaries, run the database conversion and tenant sync, publish extensions, run the data upgrade, and then test and validate results. Best practice is to do this first on a copy of production, fix obsolete code early (especially important for v27), and not skip versions or mix steps. This is the only Microsoft-supported and safe approach.
