Thank you for your help.
This is Miyoshi from IDEC.
I would like to confirm the initial setup and operation of "device licenses" in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management.
Mr. Imai from Microsoft Sales has instructed me to submit a service request regarding this matter.
Currently, I would like to apply device licenses to devices shared by multiple users for the following two business purposes:
Using "Production Floor Execution" on manufacturing floor devices
Using "Warehouse Management (WMS App)" on warehouse operations devices (Windows PC and Android)
Could you please explain the following points in these cases?
1. Regarding device license assignment
- Am I correct in understanding that device licenses are assigned by creating a "device account" in Microsoft Entra ID and assigning the license to that account, rather than assigning it directly to the device?
- If so, please explain the specific steps from account creation to license assignment.
2. Regarding license application when using the WMS App on an Android device
- Please explain how to apply device licenses to the WMS App installed on an Android device.
③ Operational Considerations
- We are assuming that we will create a "device account" and assign a device license to that account.
- In this case, am I correct in understanding that simply logging in to a new device with that account will activate the license?
- Also, will simply uninstalling the WMS App and Production Floor Execution applications from the old device pose any licensing issues?
- Please let us know if there are any additional procedures required when replacing or reusing devices.
Currently, we are assuming shared use of business devices in our manufacturing and warehouse operations.
In order to ensure proper license application and operational design, we would appreciate any technical best practices or official documentation you could provide.
