Project Posting Group Error

I can only assume that I have an error in my project posting group setup.

We only use Completed Contract WIP Method, here is our posting setup (according to documentation, the blank fields are not needed for CC method):

50410 is my Project COGs Account
40410 is my Project Income Account
50415 is for Project COG WIP
40415 is for Project Income WIP
14230 is for Project COG WIP balancing
14250 is for Project Income WIP balancing

I made a simple test project in sandbox after having errors in production and it seems on project conclusion, I'm getting direct entries from 50415 to 50410 and from 40415 to 40410 and it's throwing off results.

Why the extra entries? Shouldn't these balance since the test project is closed?

14230 and 14250 zero out as I'd expect them to but 50415 and 40415 do not.

Am I misunderstanding WIP accounting in general?

It seems to me that sales and purchase invoices post to the respective income and COGS accounts (40410 and 50410 in this case) and WIP offsets those with entries from the PnL Statement to balancing accounts , so from 40415 to 14250 and 50415 to 14230 in this example and at the end of the project, those would be reversed so the income and costs would be "uncovered" by the zeroing of the WIP accounts.

Please help, I don't know why I'm getting the extra entries shown above.
