Update customer attachment Notes

Hello guys,

In my customer, I have default Notes which I'm imported using Customer Attachments data entity, this is so that my customer when creating new SO, automatically have a header notes from this "attachments"

The attachment that I'm referring to is the one that we can access from Customer master, through clicking the Clip icon on the top right, or we can also access it from the top menu (Customer form) > Customer > Customer attachment

Question or issue is, after successfully imported the Notes attachment, turn out there are typo mistakes. I tried to used the same data entity, export, make a correction on the notes (Field: Notes), but when import again, hit error:

Results. Updating document attachments is not supported

Looks like the DMF and the data entity does not support update.

1. May I know if this correct?
2. Any other way, except we need developer's help on this ?

Thanks,

    Hi @Teevo,

    A few questions:
    1. Have you placed the files into Resources/Customer attachments sub folder?
    2. Are you on version 10.0.45/ version 10.0.46?

    Suggestions:
    1. If you are on version 10.0.46 and version 10.0.46, disable this feature "Related document attachments" feature. The fix is to disable this feature to make the Document attachments to work (References: https://fix.lcs.dynamics.com/Issue/Details/?bugId=626199)
    2. The other reason this issue happens is because of version 10.0.45 is the unique key id (GUID value) that is generated. If we are trying to re-import the document attachments associated with existing customers then that is attempting to edit the existing attachments linked to the customer record. Document ID is unique across every environment and is generated from the DocuRef table.

Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions, if any.

    Hi Navneeth,

I'm still on version 10.0.44. Worth noting, it's only notes no files. And about the GUID, is it fine for us to re-use those "DocumentID" that we can retrieve when we export first ? That's basically my step in order to update the existing customer attachment, by export it first so I know what is the GUID in that DocumentID field.

    Thanks,
