Intermittent “Please sign in again” popup due to 403 error on msdyn_tour entity

Hi everyone,

We are experiencing an intermittent issue in Dynamics 365 where users are repeatedly seeing a “Please sign in again” popup multiple times during the day.

🔍 Issue Details:

  • The popup appears randomly while users are actively working

  • Clicking “Sign in” does not show any authentication error and allows users to continue

  • Clearing cache and re-logging does not resolve the issue

  •

🧪 Investigation Findings:

From browser console/network logs, we observed:

  • Repeated 403 (Forbidden) errors from Web API calls

  • Error indicates missing privilege

  • The failing entity is msdyn_tour

  •

❓ Key Observations:

  • msdyn_tour is an out-of-the-box entity (not custom)

  • The entity exists in the system since around 2022

  • We are not explicitly using this entity in any customizations

  • Issue started recently without any direct changes related to this entity

  • Only users with restricted/custom security roles are affected

  • Users with higher privileges (e.g., System Administrator) do not face this issue

  •

🤔 Questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced similar issues with msdyn_tour or other OOB entities causing sign-in prompts?

  2. Is this related to any recent Microsoft updates or background features (e.g., guided help / learning path)?

  3. Is there a way to disable these background calls instead of granting access?

  4. Is providing read-only access to this entity the only recommended solution?

  5.

Any insights or confirmation would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!Uploaded image

Answer 1 : Yes, similar issues have been observed with msdyn_tour and other OOB entities where background 403 errors trigger misleading “Please sign in again” prompts.

Answer 2 : Yes, this is likely related to Microsoft background features such as Guided Help, Learning Path, or recent platform/UI updates making hidden API calls.

Answer 3: There is no fully supported way to disable all background calls, though disabling Guided Help/Learning Path may reduce them in some cases.

Answer 4: Providing minimal read-only access to the entity is currently the most common, practical, and recommended resolution.
