Trace the Original Person who Placed the Transfer Order

Hello Experts,

I’m trying to identify the original user who created a specific Transfer Order. The order has already been shipped and received at designated locations.

Different users were involved in the processes of creating the Transfer Order, posting the shipment, and posting the receipt. Additionally, the Transfer Order has been deleted from the list, which makes tracking more challenging.

Given this situation, could you please advise on how I can trace the original creator of the Transfer Order?

Thank you in advance for your support.

I have the same question (0)

Since the document has been deleted I don't know of a way to see the original creator (as Transfer Orders dont have an archive). Maybe you have another environment or copy of that company where the document still exists.

For future reference, documents will have two fields that tell you the Created at date and Created by user. You can inspect the page on the transfer order (Alt + Ctrl + F1) and then see who created it and when:

I also highly recommend enabling the Change Log as well. This way you can monitor and track changes to tables and fields you specify. You can find info about the change log here: Auditing changes - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

And if you want you can also add the "Created At" and "Created By" fields to pages in BC by customizing a profile. You just need to navigate to the Profiles (Roles) page and then Customize pages and add those fields to the pages you want to see those fields on.

in the Created By and Modified by Users - it is disclosing the users whom were Posted the Shipments and Receipt. Who were not the same as Original User whom was created the TRO.

And the Change Log Entries are not enabled for TRO.

So Any other Solution is there to identify the Original User?

The only other solution I can think of is if you know a general date when it was deleted, you could restore the production environment to a sandbox. This will only work if you have room for a sandbox environment: Restoring an environment in the admin center - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

You can copy the production to a new sandbox. Just a few limitations to note:
    • Each environment can be restored up to 10 times in a calendar month.
    • An environment can be restored to any time up to 28 days ago. It's not possible to restore an environment to a time more than 28 days ago.

If it has already been deleted, it cannot be traced if a change log has not been set.

    Hello,

Check Find Entries on posted Transfer Shipments/Receipts to see who posted each step.
If the order was deleted, open Change Log Entries (table 5740 – Transfer Header) to find the Insert entry showing who created it.
If the Change Log wasn’t enabled, it can’t be recovered.
