Planning Worksheet

New to BC but have ERP background. I am helping to setup structure to use planning worksheet. When I run planning worksheet I noticed it is actually assigning new production order numbers to my jobs. Is this supposed to happen? I am used to getting a planning suggestion, but it will not assign a production number until you act on that suggestion and convert it to an order. Please let me know if anything else is needed.
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

If you are referring to the Reference number field then BC will assign a reference number for Prod. Order suggestions:

The reason is for full MRP/MPS planning these planning suggestions are used for other suggestions such as purchases. You can see below my Prod. Order I have a purchase recommendation for 11 units. If I select that line and then select Item Availabity by > Event

You can see one of the suggestions is a planning level suggestion related to that Prod. Order Reference No.:
While I haven't created an actual Planned Order yet that Prod. Order reference number is still be using for planning suggestions.

    Hopefully that helps!

That makes sense, there is a lot of clean up I am doing as there are old open SO, PO, and production orders. As I am building the structure we are still planning from the sales orders or creating manual jobs until I can stabilize the process. I noticed when I ran the worksheet just to see planning suggestions it assigns this reference number, but when I would then plan from a sales order or a manual job, I noticed my production orders jumped up significantly since there are a lot of erroneous settings and orders. I thought that it was weird that a planning suggestion would actually assign, hold, and use a production order number even before I action the suggestion. Just wondered if there was a parameter setting or if that was how it was designed.
