SSRS Report Rendering Timeout When Rendering Takes More Than 10 Minutes

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue with an SSRS report and could use some guidance.

I’m generating a master data metrics report that contains about 100 columns. The data execution time isn’t a problem, and the report runs in batch without any noticeable delays. The issue happens during report rendering:

  • If rendering completes in under 10 minutes, everything works fine.
  • If rendering takes more than 10 minutes, SSRS starts retrying automatically.
  • After 5 retries, the process fails with a “report rendering timeout” error.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Is there a configuration setting that allows increasing the report rendering timeout? I’d like to prevent SSRS from retrying and failing when the rendering takes longer due to the size of the report.

Any suggestions or recommended settings would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Which Dynamics 365 product are you working on? AX or D365 F&O?

    Hi,
yes there is setting for rendering timeout which is set to 600 second (10 minutes). However you cannot change it for cloud versions of Dynamics as Microsoft manages the product as SaaS.
If you are on-prem you can mange the setting.

I am hoping you are working on cloud version of dynamics where you are creating SSRS report and this behavior  is default behavior and you cannot change it apart from optimizing your report by reducing complexity , optimize your fetch xml queries , use pagination  so that it wont hit 10 min timeout.
If you are on-prem then you do have control to change the RSReportServer.config where you can change the execution time out key.
