GL field requirements

Hi, I was hoping someone could give some insight on some requirements we would like to turn on in relation to our general journals in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central 365. On our general journals we want to require that the subledger code field be required anytime an account beginning with 2440** is used. However, we don't want the rule to apply to any entry that has a document number that starts with PR or has a source code of "SYSFD". Is this possible to do? I am aware of how to make the field mandatory, but that applies to everything hitting that account. I am looking to see if you can create exceptions to those rules. I've attached a sample of the journal entries that are currently hitting this account

This is not possible with standard functionality. You would need a developer to customize the system, but it can be done through a customization.

    Hello,

Yes, you can enforce this rule, but only with a small AL customization.
Standard BC cannot make a field conditionally mandatory with exceptions.

    Logic in code:

Require Subledger Code only when Account = 2440**

Except when Document No. starts with PR

Except when Source Code = SYSFD

This is done with an event subscriber on the general-journal validation.

    Regards,
    Oussama Sabbouh
