Permission Errors for Super User - Sorry, the current permissions prevented the action. (TableData 2610 Feature Data Update Status IndirectInsert:System Application)

Hi Readers! Hope you are having a lovely day!

Today I am in the bc26.X version (the latest) and I go to a Purchase Order, and get a pop up to enable Document Checking. So I enable it.
I am Super User, Global Admin, and have BC Premium License, and BC Admin Role.

Then the purchase order simply shows a permission error in the Document Check Fact Box
Sorry, the current permissions prevented the action. (TableData 2610 Feature Data Update Status IndirectInsert:System Application)

Thank you for your assistance and time looking into this!
Let me know if you are able to replicate.
@microsoft please add this to your issues register!

Mucho Gracias!
Kris from DIY-ERP

I tried to check permissions under my tenant . I m being Super still have some indirect access .

I can suggest , create new permission set provide indirect access to table , codeunits , page 2610 and add to your user .

If not solved , then Please contact MS

    Hi,

The Super role grants all permissions, but entitlements in SaaS environments restrict direct access to some system tables. Table 2610 is part of the System Application and is protected by these entitlements.

Try assigning the built-in permission set for Administrator or equivalent to your user.
If the issue persists, check the Effective Permissions page to confirm IndirectInsert is allowed for TableData 2610.

You can also try to create a new permission set and add the relevant permission to it.

    Thanks
    Rishabh

    Hello,

You're encountering a permission error in Business Central bc26.X when enabling Document Checking on a Purchase Order, despite having Super User and Admin roles.

The error relates to restricted access to Table Data 2610 (Feature Data Update Status), which is part of the System Application and requires Indirect Insert permission.

This issue arises because system tables often have stricter access controls, even for super users.

To resolve it, you can use the Following :
    1. “Schedule Feature Data Update” page (ID 2612), trigger the update via Feature Management, or
    2. run a Job Queue Entry on object 2614 or
    3. you can create a new permission set and add the relevant permission to it.

It's a known issue and worth reporting to Microsoft for a fix.

That's strange, does it work if you go directly to the Feature Management page and enable it from there?

    Hi,

That red message is coming from the Document Check fact box. It’s trying to write to a system table called Feature Data Update Status (TableData 2610) and your user doesn’t have permission to IndirectInsert there—so the check fails and shows the error.
    Fix (preferred)
Give the user (or their user group) indirect insert rights to that table:
    1. Permission Sets → create a new set (or copy the one they use).
    2. Add a line:
      • Object Type: TableData
      • Object ID: 2610 (Feature Data Update Status)
      • Read: Yes
      • Insert: Indirect (check Indirect; normal Insert not needed)
      • (Optionally set Modify/Delete to Indirect too, if your security policy allows.)
    3. Assign the set to the user → Sign out/in and refresh the PO.
Any permission set that already includes the System Application tables with Indirect rights will also resolve it; adding the single table is the minimal change.
If you don’t want Document Check
    • Feature Management → turn off the Document Check (Preview) feature, or
    • Personalize the page and hide the “Summary (Preview) / Document Check” fact box.
If you paste your current permission set name, I can tell you exactly what to add or whether a standard set you already have will cover it.

    Hello,

The error appears because Document Check writes to Table 2610 (Feature Data Update Status), and your user lacks indirect access.

    Fix:
Add this permission or assign FEATURE MGT. - ADMIN:

    TableData 2610 – Feature Data Update Status → Read = Yes, Insert/Modify = Indirect
