Inventory value zero items are ideal for items that are rented out by the company but we'd also like to add serial number tracking to each of these rental items. Would there be any potential problem to having the serial number reappear on multiple sales orders and sales invoice every time it is shipped off the system? Will BC allow the same serial number to appear on multiple subsequent sales orders, sales invoices without any problems?
The added complication in all of this is how you would add it back to Business Central when it is returned from the client after the rental period has completed. I know there is a Loaner facility on Business Central but it is a little too basic. We want to be able to pick the (Inventory Value zero) item when fulfilling the sales order. A positive inventory adjustment seems the only methodology, but is not ideal as you would not want the warehouse operators performing such transactions.
