I have two Custom Field in Fixed Asset List Page as Original Cost and Original Amount. I try to update the values using Edit in Excel function. But, BC shows as Error : 'Control 'OrginalAcquisitionAmount' is read-only.

How to make these two fields as editable using excel ?

I need to post Fixed Asset additions entries. By default I cant find FA Posting Type as addition.

Can any one guide me on these two ?

    Hello,

Your custom fields are read-only because they’re not marked editable in your AL code.

In your page extension, set Editable = true; for those fields and republish.

For FA additions, post through FA G/L Journal with FA Posting Type = Acquisition Cost.

    Hi,

    Edit in Excel:
The Excel add-in respects page metadata. If the fields are non‑editable on the Fixed Asset List page, they will be read‑only in Excel.
Note: if the fields are calculated/derived, don’t edit them, post via journals instead.
    Fixed Asset additions:
Use FA Journal or Fixed Asset G/L Journal with FA Posting Type = Acquisition (that’s the standard “addition”).
For bulk loads, use Edit in Excel on the FA Journal or a Configuration Package, then post.
Do not try to update “original cost/amount” directly if those are meant to be set by acquisition postings.

    Thanks

    Hi,

You may need to check with the developer(s) whether the fields that you’re trying to modify are marked as Editable = true in the custom code, or if there are any validations applied to those custom fields.

Fields that are non-editable in Business Central cannot be updated through Edit in Excel, because Business Central enforces the same validations and field properties during the save process—just as it does within the application.

    Hope this helps.

If the custom fields are not editable using edit - in - excel . Please verify below things

    1) Set properties of Fields in Table - Editable = True
    2) Set properties of Fields in Page - Editable = True
    3) Check you have proper rights in permission set for the table
    4) Can you edit in Page before editing in excel
    5) If you can edit in page then check once excel-addin permission set in your profile
    6) You can also ask a super user to verify by editing in excel
