Manage inventory for item variants

Hello everyone,

I have a situation where the client posted an Item Journal entry to load the initial inventory for certain items. However, we now need to classify those products by variants (by manufacturer). Therefore, we need to redistribute the quantity from the generic (non-variant) item to the corresponding variants.

What would be the cleanest way to handle this process?
