Gantt Chart Scheduling Issue – Operation Not Splitting Across Resources

Hello Everyone,

Appreciate your help!

In the Gantt chart, Operation 30 requires 10 hours of processing time. However, the system is assigning only one resource from the capability and scheduling it according to a single day shift, instead of splitting the operation across two resources. As a result, the operation appears to take longer than it actually does in practice.

On the ground, once one resource’s shift ends, another resource takes over. Shouldn’t the system split the operation between two resources?

I would appreciate if someone can help or share suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

    Hi Anthony,

Is your scenario that the operation can be split to be performed by 2 people in parallel? Or are you expecting that the job planning is aware of shifts and try to plan two resources consecutive? Note that the job scheduling can't split jobs.

I expected that the job planning will be aware of shifts and split the secondary operations which is Laborer into shifts, because the machine (Primary Operation) operates 24/7 during the week and the laborers (Secondary Operation) works as shifts that works on the machine. If the job scheduling Can't split jobs, do u have any alternative solution for the process to work as it will affect the Master planning by not splitting.

    Appreciate your help as always.

    Regards

    Hi Anthony,

Very honest, I have not came across your requirement before. As far as I know, the scheduling is not capable of splitting the jobs. Do you have each shift as separate resources?
