Customer statements bypassing email settings?

Hey Everyone:

So here's an interesting one that a user hit me with.  We want to run a customer statement to email, but she wants to preview the email first.  We currently have only a single document sending profile, with the settings as:

When I run invoices to email, it pauses with the email open on the screen, but when I run a customer statement to email, it doesn't do the /prompt for settings/, and just slam-fires the statement out the door.

What setting do I have wrong here?

Thanks.

Hi, is this document sending profile not specified on the customer account card or is it empty?

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't get notification on this repsonse...

The document sending profile on this example was taken from the document sending profile window.  The customer itself was blank for the document sending profile.  Setting it explicitly to that same "DEFAULT" setting in the customer card made no difference...  It did not stop to preview the email as I would've expected it to.

    Next thought?

Right now I'm copying across my production database to a new sandbox, and I'll try removing my customer's PTE - see if that makes a difference.  If it does, it's something with my PTE, but if it doesn't, I'll be back.

    Thanks!

Sounds like this could be a bug and should be reported to Microsoft.

    Kind Regards

    Hi James,
This is a known behaviour with Customer Statement report, it does not always respect the "Prompt for Settings" option from the Document Sending Profile the same way Sales Invoices do. Sales Invoice posting/sending follow the document sending profile logic with email preview, but Customer Statement is run as a report with its own request page, and behave differently.

    There are few workarounds:
First option, when you run the Customer Statement, set the Print option to PDF, save locally, then attach to a manual email from Outlook. Not ideal but you get to preview before sending.

Second option, on the Customer Statement request page, check the "Email" related fields, depending on your BC version there may be a "Show Email Dialog" option or similar that force the prompt to appear.

Third option, if you need full control, a developer can extend the report or subscribe to the relevant email sending events in BC. Worth check the available events in your BC version, the exact event names change between releases.

    Hope this help, Best regards
