MRP creates a planned purchase order instead of a planned production order

Dear All,

I try to understand why the MRP creates a planned purchase order when the default order settings is set to production. Item has BOMs and routes. If item coverage has the parameter "Change planned order type" set to "Production", it genarates a planned production order but if not setup, if ignores the default value which is the same "Production".

It is not a problem for the variants that have a coverage but when I don't maintain a coverage, I still would want the MRP to generate a planned production order,

Any help would be greatly apreciate!
