Hi Community,

Is there a way to link a Sales Order to a Purchase Order that you can easily see on the Sales Order Header or Lines? Goal is to see in a snapshot which PO is the SO related to and vice versa. As per checking in the system there are many steps involve (Go to Lines > Order > Drop Shipment > Purchase Order).  Was wondering if there is a way to do this without customization. Thank you.
I have the same question (0)

One thing you could do is put the PO# in the Sales Line Description field. Then it will carry into the related Item Ledger entry when you post.

The Sales Order (on Purchase Lines) and Purchase Order (on Sales Lines) are hidden by default.  You can make those fields visible through Personalization or Configuration of a Profile.

You will still need to utilize the Drop Shipment functionality to populate the right fields on the related documents.  That process wouldn't change.

You can use the drop shipment functionality to do this, but this might not reflect your actual process.  Drop shipment involves goods sent directly from vendor to customer.  If the goods are delivered to yourself also consider special orders.

Limitation is that this will lock purchase orders and sales orders together until fulfilled which take time to undo if required.  When the drop shipment/special order is complete the link is also then lost.

I have in the past used dimensions at header and line level to manage tracking of sales to purchase, which is especially relevant if items are not suitable for the solution.
