Does MSM support baseline recalculations, if yes how can I set it up?

Hello,
I am trying to explore on whether MSM can perform baseline recalcs.
I've noticed that if I create 2 profiles to run on 2 separate calculation models but with same activity data, the emissions are replaced by the latest ran profile.
Is there a way to retain both version of outputs without running both calculation models from the same profile ?
Basically, my requirement is as follows:
1] I have 2 versions of calculation models and calculation profiles for Purchased electricity
2] I want to retain the output from both version of the calculation profile run.
Is this supported in MSM?
The other requirement is we want to perform baseline recalcs for one of our clients where they want to retain multiple run outputs of the same activity data based on different models and profiles configured.
Please let me know if all of this supported and how can it be configured, also let me know if there's any workarounds that can be done to achieve the same.

Thank you!

I don't know the answer to that question.
However, it seems like you are recreating the what-if scenario functionality?
Maybe you could use that functionality?

@Joke Laukens thanks for your response.
Though I am not trying to execute a what-if analysis.
I just want to see if there's an option to retain multiple versions of calculated outputs in all emissions table for the same category which is run via different calculation profiles

@Vishruti Your question is not very clear but I will try to respond based on my understanding.

If you want to generate two emission records for the same activity record, the only out-of-the-box supported method is to use the "Alternate Result Base" option in the calc model but in this case you still need a single calc model. If you have two calc models acting on the same activity data, your emission records will be overwritten.

If "Alternate Result Base" option doesn't work for your scenario, you will need to duplicate the activity record with a custom column (or preferably a custom dimension) to distinguish the two versions and your calc profiles should add a filter condition on the custom column/custom dimension to process the desired activity record. The advantage of using custom dimension over a custom column is that it gets copied over to the emission record but the disadvantage is that custom dimension is a JSON field, so working with that might not be very straightforward.

If the custom column/custom dimension option doesn't work for you and you need to retain emission outputs for same activity record across different executions of the calc profiles, you may also consider using the Fabric Link functionality to export the MSM data to Microsoft Fabric lakehouse and then run some pipeline/notebook in Fabric to create and save different snapshot of the emission data in Fabric. Maintaining different versions in MSM will be expensive as dataverse storage is expensive.

Let me know if this answers all your questions. If not, please clarify your scenario in more details.
