Financial reports - Coloumn definitions

ReportReport

Hello,

I would appreciate your help with defining the columns (or any other required definitions) to generate a monthly income statement.

Also, when I select a specific period (for example, Jan 2022 to Apr 2022), I would like the report to show only the figures for that period, as well as a YTD total. Is this possible?

I’ve attached screenshots of what I’ve created, but I’m not getting the expected results. Could you please advise where I might be going wrong with the layout or definitions?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have the same question (0)

All columns added to the definition will display unless you select "Show - Never"

You are missing any calculations in "Forumula"  to tell Business Central which periods each column relates to.

You can use comparison date formulas to accomplish this task.

First, open your column report definition and create a comparison date formula for each date:
You can see above I have -1m for november, -2m for october and so on.

The next step is very important, enter your date filter as the last month of the year (December in my example):

You will now have a report with net change each month and a total for the year. You can also add columns for prior year or variances or other values if needed.

See example of working report, you can confirm its working by drilling into the values, for example if I click on the July amount here:

It has a date filter on those values for July:

There are also other ways to build financial report definitions but I find this way to be simple, quick and accurate.

    Hello,

This is not possible in the financial reporting.
You may use the "Analysis Views" >> "Analysis By Dimension" option and in that you can define the date filter and system will show the column of that dates only.

By Clicking on "Show Metrix" option system will show the column for those months only.

Hi, Perhaps using the BC analysis model would be simpler.

    Hope this helps as well.
    Thanks.
