Subscription Line Errors

One of our users accidentally created two bad subscriptions in the subscription module.

One of them shows it is associated with a contract but the contract does not have it as a line.

Another is visible in subscription lines without a contract but not visible in subscriptions...

The only means I know of deleting these is a configuration pkg but this results in endless errors and breaks all my subscription contracts.

This is preventing us from creating a billing proposal.

Any better ideas?

Thank you.

This might be a bit tricky to fix because it seems like lines might have been loaded without validation, maybe with a configuration package. I'd try the following fixes.
    1. If you have subscription lines that don't have an associated subscription no. then try creating a new Subscription. In the new subscription select "Assign Subscription Lines" and see if you can asign the orphaned subscription line:
    2. For the other record that has a contract no. you can open the contract it may be on and select "Home" > "Get Subscription Lines".
    3. If that fails, this would be a last choice option but you can use something like the data editor tool (Table Data Editor for Business Central) and you can delete both those records in the Subscription Lines table and also check the Subscriptions table.

Thank you, Teagan.  I've tried the things you mentioned.  The lines were added by accidentally adding them right to the contract -no configuration pkg or other use so really, Microsoft should not allow this but clearly the module is still not fully stable.

Anyway, I'm going to try the Table Data Editor you mentioned in Sandbox and see if it resolves the issue.

    I appreciate the recommendation.

Thanks for the extra information. Yeah I certainly agree. The subscription module is a great add but its still an early feature. I did some early testing with it and I almost do not recommend using configuration packages with it yet. Im hoping microsoft invests some extra resources in it with the future wave releases.

That data editor tool will certainly be able to clear those records. Run it without any validation, delete those lines and report if that fixes the issue.

I had some notes and recorded a webinar on the new module that you can access if you're interested. You may already be familiar with what is has to offer but this is a good starting point - Learn All You Need to Know About Subscription Billing in Business Central - ERP Software Blog

I was able to delete the offending lines.

The "phantom" line was just a line without a header so that went easy with that tool.

I was able to delete the header and line with the tool for the SOBJ that thought it had a contract but did not.

When I try to make a billing proposal however, I'm still getting this.

    Any ideas?

This usually means there is a database lock from another active session in BC.

You can search for Database Locks and see what session is interupting the process.

You can cancel sessions in an environment by following instructions at this link: Managing Sessions in the Admin Center - Business Central | Microsoft Learn
After you cancel any sessions you may want to review the subscription tables once more.

Thanks, been there, done that.  Restarted the environment, everything, it just comes back.  I'm not going to restore from a backup before the error and re-enter all of today's work.  Just a mess.

OK. so it turns out this issue is NOT related to the bad entries made yesterday.  I don't know what entries are holding it up but I keep ending up at the error above relaying that "Customer Subscription Contract" is being updated in another session.  But it's not true.

I've run recoveries from our environment from days ago and get the same error.

We are stuck and cannot invoice our customers.  This will wreck us if I can't fix it.

OK.  The conclusion to this saga was a "bad customer subscription contract".  The lines I thought had caused the problem had nothing to do with it.

I went through and created contract invoices individually for each customer subscription until one of them "hung".  I then noticed that the contract had not invoiced for the past two billing cycles.  The subscription line "next billing dates" were 2 months ago.  I deleted the subscription lines and the contract and I could then create billing proposals again.

This was completely frustrating.  Thank you Teagan for the new tool in my arsenal.
