HI all,

I am having issues with Bank Import file. There are 3 rows in the csv file which are not needed and the 4th line of the Header so I have put 4 in Header Lines but now the system is giving me an error.

Text file which i am importing:

The issue is its working with 1 file already saved and on the new file its giving the above error.

The problem we found it that if we open the csv file and save it (without making any changes), it works but if we import the file as is, it does not work because there is " in the file which is causing the issue.

any suggestions to fix this.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

There is still insufficient derails to evaluate your Data Exchange definition, but as you said it is working for one file then it must be ok.

As regards to it not working for another file could be due to you trying to import file with some hidden character. Sometimes tye bank file downloaded directly from Bank website may contain characters which are incorrect. As you said that once you open the CSV and save it, it works. That simply means the original file is not in correct CSV format. And once you open and save it, it corrects the format to CSV and hence allows you to import.

Please check with bank or contains of the file. Also check original extension of the file.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

    Hello ,
This isn’t a Header Lines issue — BC fails before mapping because the original CSV has unescaped quotes (") inside fields (usually Description/Memo), which breaks the column split and makes the file “incompatible”; when you open + save in Excel, Excel silently fixes the CSV (quotes, encoding, separators), so it works. Proper fix is to get the bank to export a properly escaped CSV (quotes as "") or a different format (CAMT/MT940). Practical workarounds are: preprocess the file (Power Automate/script), or clean it in a Data Handling Codeunit before parsing; also double-check File Encoding (try UTF-8) and Column Separator match the real file.

    Hello

Please check your file format here and Save As it in the mentioned format. I recently faced the same error due to this format, and it has now been resolved.

Thank you for all your responses.

We did try other things but client wanted to move forward with resaving the file and import it.

Sometimes we have to respect what client wants and how they want to move forward.
