Limiting G/L accounts that users can select when posting invoices / gen journals

Hello,

Is there anyway to limit which g/l account a user can post to when posting invoices or journals? I have a situation where users often select and post to the wrong g/l accounts in Business Central.

Thanks
I have the same question (0)

You can use security filters but it all depends how dynamic the situation is.
You can restrict direct posting if they are posting to incorrect GL which must not be used in GL Posting.
Based on you condition you can add a quick customization as well.

All depends on how tricky the entire condition is.

@RockwithNav what's up bro. I remember you from long back. You must be a fellow musician? 🎸 💥 🥁

Anyway, yes there is a solution to this question. One option is to have a developer make a custom Invoice page that sets a filter so when they drill down to choose a GL Account they only get filtered choices. This will keep the filtering at the page level as opposed to the whole database, which can cause other problems.

Using standard functionality, you can use security filters to restrict certain users from seeing or posting to specific G/L accounts.

Alternatively, you can use items of type Non-Inventory or Service instead of posting directly to G/L accounts. This allows you to create only the items that users are permitted to post to, with each item mapped to the appropriate G/L account. This is one of the benefits of using items instead of G/L accounts.

This is many common pain area of Admins .  We acheived using cusotmizaiton

We cannot restrict the view of GL account List , we can validate GL account while doing "Account No." selection .

    1) Create AllowtoPost Boolean in GL account
    2) Create Script while Selecting Those GLs which boolean is true - "Account No" or "Bal. Account No." = OnValidate()

    This should work

Security filters are a valid option for simple visibility control, but for precise posting rules, custom validation is still the better approach.
