In Business Central, can you sell a Production Bill of Material (BOM) that is a phantom BOM?

    Yes that is fine. You could just buy that item and sell it if needed. You could also opt to build that item by creating a production order and then selling it. If it's a Phantom BOM on a Production Order it only applies to that specific Production Order or Production BOM that has been built.
     
    You can also set an item up with variants and Stockkeeping Units so you could even have variants of that item (variant for Resale and a variant as a component/phantom in other production BOMs).

    Yes, you can create Phantom BOMs in Business Central. We recently implemented this. What you need to do is create independent Production BOMs and then attach these BOMs to the main Production BOMs. This setup works as a phantom—essentially, a Production BOM within another Production BOM.
