Default Roles for users on different companies

Hi,

Has anyone ever had a situation where they have more than one company in their environment and they want to assign different default roles to users depending on the company.

Is it possible? As far as I can see you can only apply one default role to a user. Has anyone encountered this before and come up with a solutuon?

Its not possible out of the box. The easiest solution would be to assign a profile that combines both roles.

Otherwise, you could try customizing the system to switch the role depending on the company, but I'm not sure if this is even possible. Perhaps other members will have more guidance.

I don't believe this is possible. The user settings table only allows one entry per user and never been able to find a solution.

Seems like MS is ignoring this issue for many years :)

They can do it in 2 hours. Or 4 is they will do their best :)

As far as I remember there was an event to select current rolecenter or profile on login.

Hello Sean,

Business Central does not support different default roles per company — each user can have only one default role (Profile ID) at the tenant level, which applies regardless of the company they open. While you can assign different permission sets or User Groups per company, the landing role itself stays the same. The usual workaround is to use a generic default role and let users switch roles after changing company, or manage access via company-specific permissions. Fully automatic per-company default roles are not possible out of the box and would require a custom (and generally discouraged) extension.
