Hi Community,

May I know why do we need to have this button in payment journal, "Renumber Document Numbers"? This is a default button, but I notice that there are times in payment journal,

the numbers that were used, had already been posted, hence Navision don't allow my users to post. And so we need to click on this Renumber Document numbers to renumber the Document Numbers correctly. I thought this is a strange one.

If we already know that the numbers will get mixed, why don't we code it in such a way that the numbers don't get mixed up from those posted?

Hello dear,

This action is for reorganizing the serial number of document number and posted document number when posted,

so you are not gonna write it manually. It reads from the number series and posted number series from the template.

We have multiple batches Opened and while posting a journal system validates numbers assigned in the present batch.
and throughs error if there is any ambiguity in number series and posting date relation. in such case use this action to generate fresh validated number series.

Hello,

You can use "Posting No. Series" to avoid the issue where Document No. are in used when posting.

In this way, system will generate a new Document No. for the journal when posting.

Renumber Documents function is extremely important when you have multiple batches and using No. Series instead of Posting No. Series.
