Catch weight setup exists. Inventory unit cannot be changed.

Hello Experts

I am trying to create a catch weight item through the master product process. The product is created and released but I am facing two issues, any suggestions and support will be appreciated.

My UOM is Kg while the Catchweight UOM is Ea. I have defined interclass conversion once the product is released, conversion can be checked from the below screen.

but when i select catchweight UOM in the manage inventory tab, it gives the nominal value as 1. while it is working fine if the product type is not master product.

2nd issue is, if defined the all UOM, i.e purchase, sale, bom, inventory, and catchweight, and try to save the product, the system gives the error "Catch weight setup exists. Inventory unit cannot be changed." Just for your information, i am not using any default unit of measure value.

Any suggestions and help in this regard will be appreciated.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Faisal,

Thanks for reply, unit of measure conversion option does not work if the catch weight check is enabled.

But by creating the master product through the release product screen, worked, the conversion is working fine and system did not gave the error of catch weight exist, inventory unit cannot be changed.

    thanks for the support.

    Hello Ali,

which screen you are using to create the master product? From your question, it looks like you are using the master product screen to create the master product and release it. Did you try the enable unit of measure conversion parameter, which is available on the master product screen?

for the second issue, considering, you are using the master product screen and at the time of product created using the product master screen you cannot select the uom for the purchase/sale/inventory/bom.  so at the released item screen due to catch weight uom conversion validation, the system is not allowing you to enter the inventory unit of measure taking it that you are trying to change the uom.

what i will suggest, try to create the master product from the released product screen, at the released product screen you have the option to enter all uom before creating the product. so you will not face the issue in entring the uom for inventory. following is the screen for your reference to create the master product and enter uom on the released product screen.

    Best Regards,

RE: Catch weight setup exists. Inventory unit cannot be changed.

    Hello Junaid,

Thanks for responding and explaining in the UOM part, Actually in my case inventory uom is Kg because i am going to be charged by vendors on the basis of the Kgs not on the ea/pcs basis.  and secondly as far as i know, catch weight uom cannot be decimal so we have to use ea or pcs.

following is your requested screen of manage inventory tab showing the uom details and nominal value conversion which is not correct as per the defined inter-class uom conversion.

    Untitled1.png

For the second suggestion, as it is a new item, so no transaction exists. as i am not using the default value of the UOm, so when i create the item i have to fill the uom of inventory and when i do this for catch weight enabled item, the system gives the error that catch weight setup exists, inventory uom cannot be changed.

    Thanks and regards,

    Ali

    Hi Ali,

As per your screen print, Your inter-class conversion is fine but the way you explained it is not correct. Your inventory UOM is 'ea' and catch weight UOM is 'kg' actually because your stocking in one unit, that is pieces but your weight unit is Kg.

Can you share the screen print of product screen > Manage Inventory Tab to see your catch weight unit?

Regarding your 2nd issue, Can you make sure that you don't have any posted/past inventory transaction for this item with following status:

    Registered/Picked/Ordered/Reserved/Deducted/ Received/On Order/ Arrived or on Quotation issue/receipt

If any transaction exist then system won't allow you to change the catch weight setup.
