Hi,

Is there a way to make use of SQL 2016 together with CRM 2016?

Does anybody already made experiences with this constellation ?

Thank you in advance!

BR Tim

RE: CRM 2016 with SQL Server 2016?

Please follow this article to install CRM 2016 using SQL 2016. The key issue is the different path naming in the installation of SQL Server Reporting:

    https://us.hitachi-solutions.com/blog/how-to-install-dynamics-crm-2016-reporting-extensions-sql-2016/

The key solution is to create a new folder %program files%/…/Reporting Services/ReportManager and copy the web.config you find in the folder %program files%…/Reporting Services/ReportServer.

Then it is officially supported by the Dynamics 365 update (version 8.2)

    CRM-Reporting-error.PNG

"Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS13.MSSQLSERVER\ReportingManager\web.config " path not found SQL 2016 (update CU2 ) has not folder "ReportingManager"

Finally I have to go back  to install SQL2014 and CRM 2016

So how did you install the SP1 fix without having Reporting Extension installed? It's a catch 22, where you need Reporting Extension installed in order to install CRM2016-Srs-KB3154952-ENU-amd64.exe, but you need this patch to be able to install Reporting Extension :(

Hi Edison, yes I've done as your procedure: uninstall Dynamics CRM 2016 Reporting Extension, install the fix CRM2016-Srs-KB3154952-LangID-amd64.exe, then reinstall Dynamics CRM 2016 Reporting Extension. Hope it works for you.

Hi YuanZhao, I met the issue too. So should I uninstall Dynamics CRM 2016 Reporting Extension first then install CRM2016-Srs-KB3154952-LangID-amd64.exe?

I ended up scrapping the vm and rebuilding using SQL2014

I did this ( install SQL2016 and CRM2016 on the same computer) but I have same problem described by Peter Van. There is problem with SSRS (srsdataconnector) :(
