Forecast reduction with Planning Optimization vs old engine

Reviewing microsoft documentation I got to this

So for example, I have a forecast for item A for 1000 Eaches and then create a sales order for 300 eaches of item A

So when I look in item net requirements, it shows Demand Forecast for 700 eaches.

The issue comes when I ship that sales order, the sales order changes the status to Delivered and when I go to the item net requirements, the demand forecast is back to 1.000 eaches

Any workarounds to solve this? when we work with monthly forecasts, this can be a huge issue, because the forecast never gets reduced by real demand as we  invoice our sales orders.

Thanks!

This is a big issue, and widely discussed by those implementing Planning Optimisation. And I think it's fair to say Microsoft know this!

I do not have any good suggestions for a workaround, but there are two Ideas which I encourage anyone who is interested to vote for:

Thanks for confirming what we were suspecting. This is can be very critical for companies with daily invoicing and monthly forecasts.
    Have a great day.

    Hi,

I know I'm late to this conversation, but I wanted to share that on September 2024 a fix to this issue has been implemented (and is enabled by default), where both supply and demand forecast is also reduced by physical supply/demand.

    Cheers,
    Jonathan
