Assembled Products - Monthly Routine Update

(0) ShareShare

Dear all,

We have a certain quantity of products that are composed by others and they have already the assemblage order set.

What routine should we run at the end of the month so that the stock gets updated, taking out those components.

Thank you....

I have the same question (0)

To understand correctly, do you mean you want to un-assemble the items? Placing the components back into stock?

    Dear Josh,

Actually is the exact opposite. We want the assembled products that we sold that month take off of the stock its components. this is, if I sell one assembled product, I want their components to be taken off the inventory.

Are the assembly items for stock or for order? With the latter you build the “kit” for each order so no stock holding of the finished “kit”, meaning it’s already in component form. Seems more like a process problem from what you’ve revealed thus far.

Yes, we have a problem I think. We have this product that we both sell in sets of 3 and by unit and when we sell by sets of 3 the system does not reduces those 3 units from the original reference, althought the reference for three is set to be composed by 3 units... So, we think there is a routine that we must run every end of the month for that purpose...

Why not have a different unit of measure on the same item? The conversion would already be there and there would be no need for monthly adjustments

    Ana,

    Adding to Josh's reply...

I am assuming that you Assemble these kit items not using an Assembly Order. If not, I would create an Assembly Order for the Assembled Finished Item, and Post the Assembly Order which consume the component (BOM ) items and increases the finished assembled item. This is the easiest.

You can actually do this as the team assembles them so your inventory is up-to-date and accurate. You would not have the monthly update anymore.

    Hope this helps.

    Dear Steve,

These itens have already an assembly order defined. We assumed that we did not need to make another one for each sale. We though there was a routine that we could run that setlled the inventory. If that does no exist, yes we will do assembly orders for each sale. Thank you very much :)

    Ana,

Let me outline what I think you do and what BC posts:

    Finished Assembled Item X : Assembly Order 12345, for Item X Qty = 25

Components A, B, C, and D for Qty per. 1 each for the 4 components

When you post Assembly Order 12345, Qty for X will increase by 25 and the Assembly Order Qty. Components Inventory will decrease by the Qty per or 25 for A, B, C and D.

When I sell an Item X no other assembly posting is needed as the Inventory for Assembly Item X is in stock.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Dear Steve,

Yes, that is what happens and I understand all you said. I thought we didn't have to create an assembly order everytime we want to sell the "finished product". Also, someome yesterday told me that instead of making orders' assemblies, we can do it directly when  issuing the Invoice. Do you know this other procedure?

    Ana,

You noted that you want to Assemble the Item and Stock it before creating the Sales Order or shipping. The normal process would be to create an Assembly Order which creates the finished assembled item. Now, with that said, if I DO NOT want create any Assembly Order and just have BC auto assemble when I Post - Ship/Invoice, then follow these setups and steps:

On the item of the Assembled Item, set the Assembly Policy as follows:

Now on the Sales Order, I can enter the Item being sold (and assembled). Notice my Quantity and Qty. to Assemble is filled in.

Now all I have top do is Post Ship and Invoice and the Assembly Order will self post and decrease the component inventory and increase the finished Assembled item during posting.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve
