Automate Assemble to Stock Assemblies

Hi All

Hopefully a simple yes/no query this time. My client is using the Assemble to Stock format for their assembly orders as they need to be able to post the Assembly as soon as it is created rather than when it is shipped. The only issue with this is that they are having to manually create multiple Assembly Orders from their Sales Orders and I am wondering whether it is possible for a Sales Order to automatically create the Assembly Orders when they are all set to Assemble to Stock out of the box or whether we need to look at creating some kind of customisation to create them?

An example would be if they raise a Sales Order for 25 different Assembly BOM's but because we cant update the Assemble to Order quantity to automatically create them they would then need to go raise 25 Assembly Orders for each finished item. Is there a way of automating this with the items being set to Assemble to Stock?

Thanks in Advance

Laura

Hi, it is possible for a Sales Order to automatically create the Assembly Orders.

Only Replenishment System = Assembly, Assembly Policy = Assemble- to-Order.

    More details: https://yzhums.com/4491/#toc6

    For example,

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    Hi Yun

I am aware of this functionality but my client is unable to do this as they need to be able to post the Assembly Order separately to the Sales Order due to timings on when the order is processed against when it is shipped. is there a way of automating them if they are setup as Assemble to Stock?

    Thanks

Yes, but I am still confused on why you need this.  Perhaps talk to your Partner about this before doing it.

Anyway, set the Item as Assemble to Stock with a Reordering Policy (Planning Tab) of Order.  The Req./Planning Worksheet will suggest an Assembly Order with a Quantity equal to the Sales Line Quantity.  Then you can "Assemble" the Items as needed prior to Shipping.

You can achieve this via customisation. You can look at the standard code used for assemble to order and modify accordingly

Hi, I'm sorry I didn't fully understand what you mean.

I think It is possible. As Samantha73 said, this needs some customization.

You can focus on the Quantity and "Qty. to Assemble to Order" fields in the Sales line table.

    Hi Laura,

You should test either the Order Planning report or the planning worksheet to allow batch creation of assembly orders to meet demand. These aren't fully automated as such but you can batch create orders with minimal effort.

Order planning is very easy to use and will create a one to one supply order for each sales line that needs an assembly order.

The planning worksheet gives you far greater flexibility to consolidate orders, e.g. you could have one assembly order to cover multiple sales orders of the same item but to work properly, requires a bit more forethought and configuration.
