Transfer from G/L Account entries to Cost accounting WITHOUT dimension

Hello,

I have several G/L Accounts, where I need to transfer transactions/amounts to Cost Accounting. But those G/L Entries does not have and in future will not use any Dimensions.

Idea is that all amounts / transactions on this "special" accounts, will be then later divided/allocated in further inside Cost Accounting.

However, I only see option for auto transferring when using Dimensions but is it possible to transfer without dimension / the whole G/L Account.

Concrete situation, it is about employee salaries and some grouped data that does not have to be detailed in G/L accounts, and instead to use management/cost accounting ...

Also, I am new to Cost Accounting, and still not decided, should each employee (very special worker) should be Cost Center, or Cost object inside Cost accounting setup, and ideas / best practices? (I do not need departments, and projects, but Items maybe later), idea is to track all employee benefits (payments/posting), which is privileged information for management only

I have the same question (0)

    To answer on my questions:

    1. Manual posting is possible through cost journals

    2. only one dimension for cost centers are used in cost accounting setup, and one for cost objects, no other dimensions will be used for transfers.

Thank you for your information, i still did not find any good comparison between cost center and cost object.

Also, as I understand, only One dimension can be used as / for Cost Center.

So, if I have Dimension "Employee", and then Cost Centers per each employee, that is it. Besides that, I cannot have other dimensions for use for other Cost Centers?

I am trying to avoid posting to G/L Account details (dimensions) for each employee and their salary etc, and to conclude this info inside Cost Center. And since it is obligation to have dimension to get to Cost Accounting, please confirm me possible workarounds:
    1. Manually post somehow amounts from G/L Account to Cost Accounting for particular case (other cases, still have auto option when using dimensions)
    2. Have one dimension in G/L Account, that will ensure it goes to one cost center, for this one g/l account

    Hello,

The design of NAV/BC requires to use dimensions if you want to use the Cost Accoutning functionality.
There is no way around this if you want to stick to the standard functionality.
And yes, I would say it's a good idea to have every employee as a cost center.

    Hope this answers
