<> 0 does not work in report writer - need to show all negative and positive quantities on an inventory report

ReportReport

I am running a Detailed Item List report in inventory.  I want to show only items that have negative or positive quantities on hand.  I got the report to work showing only positive quantities with => 1, but when I try to do negative it does not work, i have tried <> 0 and I have tried >=1 OR <= -1 and that does not work when you do that it still shows items with a quantity of 0.  What am I doing wrong?

    Rob,

    I tried to replicate the scenario you mentioned. I modified Detailed Item List report, added a new Restrictions "QtyOnHand" , added the expression: IV_Item_MSTR_QTYS.QTY On Hand >= 1 OR  IV_Item_MSTR_QTYS.QTY On Hand <= -1. Please find below the screen shot. Changed the security to modified report. Now my report only shows positive or negative quantity on hand, there is no item with zero quantity.

    So I don't see why it is not working for you. Are you also following the same steps, if not can you try this.

    Cheers,

    Shyam.

    Hi Rob,

    I have tried a test scenario as below expression, it works..

    Condition:      IV_Item_MSTR.QTY on Hand <=  -1 OR IV_Item_MSTR.QTY on Hand = 0

    True Case:   Items need to be Purchased.

    True Case:   Items are in Stock.

    This condition works for me.. when the Qty on hand is negative.

    Hi, thank you both for your responses.  I believe the issue may actually be related to the report security, and not the report itself, so I will look into that in further detail and respond back on here with my findings. It makes sense that we have done everything right in the report, but the user is not getting that actual modified report when they run it.

    The issue was actually security related, so it was never actually running the modified report.  The problem was that we were logged in as sa when modifying the report, but when I gave the user access to the modified report she was not assigned to DEFAULTUSER like sa is - we were running the report under sa and not under her user name.  Once I gave DEFAULTUSER permissions to the report it ran - so it was merely a confusing story of this user has that profile assigned to her and sa has the DEFAULTUSER one. ;)
