Dears experts,

hope you are doing well,

I have a case regarding sales order cycel.

is it possible to start picking and packing from the step if picking list registration instead of generating picking list?

is it possible to automatic post packing slip in sales order?

i tried to turn on (Post product receipt in ledger, Post packing slip in ledger) in account receivable parameters and (Post product receipt in ledger, Post packing slip in ledger) in inventory parameters but it did not work.

What am trying to achieve is to let user to create the picking list registration and then the system will automatic post picking list and packing slip.

Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Picking in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations can be done in two different ways.
    First approach:
You generate a picking list, which acts as a task list or document for warehouse workers indicating which items and quantities need to be picked.
Once the physical picking is completed, the process is finalized by posting the picking list registration.
This approach is commonly used in larger warehouses, where warehouse execution and system posting are handled by different users or at different points in time.
    Second approach:
In smaller or faster-paced operations, users often perform direct picking, where picking and registration are completed in a single step.

Because of this process design, posting a picking list registration without first generating a picking list does not really align with the intended flow, as the picking list is the document that drives the registration.
Regarding automatic posting of the packing slip, To my knowledge, there is no standard out-of-the-box functionality that automatically posts the packing slip immediately after picking is completed. Packing slip posting is intentionally kept as a separate step, as it typically represents the physical shipment confirmation.

It would be helpful to understand the business requirement behind automatically posting the packing slip at the time of picking. In most implementations, picking and packing are treated as distinct operational steps.
Could you please share the business scenario you are trying to achieve?

    Hi,

You can automate posting of packing slip once the sales order transactions gets updated to pick. You can use below steps

1 - Navigate to Sales and Marketing > Order Shipping > Post packing slip
2 - This form can be used to automate packing slip posting in background
3 - Make sure that the parameter value is set to 'Picked' and Late selection check mark is checked. Once this is done put the form in batch mode by clicking batch button and make a batch job to find all picked sales lines lets say every 4 hours. This batch job will run every 4 hours and will try to find any picked sales lines and if found they will be posted for packing slip.
4 - Pick few orders by doing picking list registration which is manual step as it is picking you need to tell system which dimensions you have picked. After this posting of packing slip can be automated as shown earlier.
