Standard Safety Stock Calculation: how to find the data used for the calculation?

Hi All,

I know that the system uses this formula

Safety Stock Formula
[ \text{Safety Stock} = (\text{Maximum Daily Usage} \times \text{Maximum Lead Time}) - (\text{Average Daily Usage} \times \text{Average Lead Time}) ]

Could you please clarify where the system sources the data for the formula?

For instance, regarding "Maximum Daily Usage"; "Average Daily Usage" and "Average Lead Time" where can I find these data? I would like to reach the tables where the data are written if possible

Is this data manually entered by users in specific fields of the database, or is it calculated automatically by the system?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kind regards!

    Hi,

Maximum daily usage and Average daily usage are system calculated fields based on historical transactions in a certain period of time. This is used in the calculations when using the Safety Stock journal  from Master planning module. The period of time is defined in the form when adding lines to the journal.

The Lead time is based on the user input from the lead time fields - Vendor trade agreements,  Default order settings or item specific lead time on the item coverage page. The lead time defined at a more specific level take precedence over those defined at a more general level.

we are trying to calculate the safety stock, but D365 only uses the leadtime that is set on the default order settings, which is 0.
However the item has a leadtime in the trade agreements/purchase prices, which is also used for the MRP.

There is no vendor populated in the item. Disregard leadtime in the purchase prices is set to no.

Is there a way to get the safety stock calculation to use the leadtime from the purchase prices?

    Best regards
    Corinna
