I have a configuration package created that works great, I now want to move it to a new Business Central environment so it can be used there, but don't want the data copied over. Is that doable?

    Hi

It is not specified if you are only wanting to copy master data and not the posted data? Also is this for the same tenant or different?

    1. The way I do this is that you create a new company which is blank. Select the rapidstart services implementor role and in that go to worksheet where you see the tables and records in it and you can then choose what you want to select you can then Edit list > assign package

    2. Create a configuration package which you could import after you create a new company however this should be done when it is across different client

Ideal way is that you have 2 companies one UAT which has all master and configuration data which client can start testing on and another which is GOLDEN only has the configuration data. Any changes made for configuration rules example posting data setup, Setting for sales & Purchasing etc done on UAT should be manually done in Golden

So whenever you want to move you just use the Golden client with all the configuration data template and the master data would be added on top of it if it is the same client.

If you have the new company being created in the same tenant then just copy the GOLDEN company and it would have everything ready

If it is a new client then you only implement the Golden configuration template if you follow a set of standard practices.

Hi, my mistake, I forgot that it is possible to export to Excel on the Configuration Packages page.

As Kim mentioned, you can do the following.

Export to Excel -> Clear the data in Excel -> Import from Excel

I would just like to add that you do not have to manually clear the data, once you have the package, you can Export to Excel, add your data and Import from Excel which will then prompt you to override the data in the package.  Saves that manual step.

Hi, I just tested it, and even if the No. of Package Records is 0 when exporting, it will bring the data in the current database. You need to manually clear the data after importing.
So I think the standard is hard to do, hope other experts have a better way.

    Hi

Maybe create one config package and add the following tables to it. Then in new environment do the same. Then download the package from current environment and new. Then copy (make sure to copy) info from current environment package to new environment package and upload.

Please test this in Sandbox since I never done this before.

    Config. Package Table (8613)
    Config. Package (8623)
    Config. Package Field (8616)
    Config. Table Processing Rule (8631)
    Config. Package Filter (8626)
