How to pass user credentials from CRM 2013 to IFrames with Microstrategy dashboard

Hello all,

I want to embed IFrame which calls Microstrategy url into Dynamics CRM 2013. How to enable Single Sign On for Dynamics CRM so that the credentials are passed from CRM to Microstrategy. I don't want the user to see a new login page when they want to access Microstrategy dashboard (a BI reporting tool) inside the IFrame. Please share your experiences.

Thanks,

Anusha PT

    Hi Anusha

    I use IFrame to call a customized page maded by me (not Microstrategy).

    I think that you need to get the SystemUserId to and call some API for Microstrategy.

    To capture the user in the opened page I use this approach in JS (get the id and move for a hiddenfield:

    document.getElementById('hiddenIdUser').value = window.parent.Xrm.Page.context.getUserId();

    After getting the userId I handle in application.

    If you want SSO then perhaps the easiest and most secure way is to configure Claims Based Auth on Dynamics CRM and also on Microstrategy. You could use SiteMinder with Microstrategy and then fenderate siteminder to ADFS - technet.microsoft.com/.../ff754295(v=ws.10).aspx

    I've never attempted this - but in theory it should allow a user to authenticate against siteminder and access both Dynamics CRM and Microstrategy using the same SSO session.

    Hope this helps
