How to add database in Dynamics NAV Development Environment

Hello all!

I want to use Microsoft NAV Development to create queries, and to add fields to pages (as helpfully advised by Zhu here community.dynamics.com/.../how-to-add-column-in-posted-purchase-invoice-list)

I have downloaded NAV Development Environment, my problem is that if I try to add new database via File, Database, New (or via File, Database, Open) I select Server Name and there are no names in the Available Microsoft SQL Servers

Can anyone advise me next steps?

Most common is through SQL MS: archerpoint.com/.../

Hi, first you need to add your test database to SSMS. If you choose the Demo environment during installation, this database will be added automatically.

For example:

Then open your development environment, choose File -> Database -> Open...

Select the server name,

You can find this info from ssms.

And select Authentication method. Windows or Sa.

Finally, you can select Database.
