Production job scheduling

Hello everyone
I am currently getting an issue in D365 (v10.43). Any advice in resolving this will be much appreciated. Below is the issue description.

I have a production item which has 2 operations (10 and 99) in the route. Operation 10 has setup time, process time and finally Overlap time. This operation is assigned to a resource group which has 3 resources in it.

When I originally schedule the production order/batch order for this item, 3 jobs are created for this operation and all 3 jobs are assigned to single resource within the resource group. This is correct behaviour.

But once I start Setup job for this production order, and run forward rescheduling., it sometimes changes the resource for 2nd and 3rd job to a different resource but still within the resource group. This is not correct behaviour. How can you setup one resource for an operation and then assign processing job to a different resource?

Is there a parameter which will prevent this from happening? Am I missing something?

    Hi,
I was referring to this parameter,
To utilize simultaneous operations, ensure that Route networks are enabled in the Production control parameters. This allows for more complex routing structures, including parallel operations.

Through this you will be able to setup operations manually and assign them as parallel operations while setting up routes for the items.

Thanks for the response below. We will test exclusive resource option (seeing it on resource not on the route) but i see it refers to Primary and secondary.  We are using primary only with Setup, process and Overlap jobs. For jobs on primary it will reschedule to different resource (i.e Setup job on machine A, Process on machine A - Setup completed, Forward schedule and process gets moved to machine B). This doesn't work as tool is now sitting in machine A.

Can you expand on "Allow simultaneous execution"? A screen shot would help.

Scheduling method is forward from today

    Regards

    Hi,

Yes, this happens when D365 re-evaluates resource availability during rescheduling. To avoid it:

Use “Exclusive” resource requirement on the route to ensure all jobs (setup + process) stay on the same resource

Make sure finite capacity is enabled to prevent job shifting across resources

Avoid rescheduling after the setup job has started unless needed

Confirm “Allow simultaneous execution” and resource group settings are configured properly

Let us know your scheduling method.

    Regards,

    Zain

    Hi

My client is also experiencing the same issue. It has been raised to MS.  The system should look at Operation and Priority as part of the forward scheduling process and not move to another resource. Practically we can't for example put a tool into a machine and then expect to make parts in a different machine. This is not how the real world scenario works.

hopefully MS will realise this and fix the issue.
