Set a Closing Date on a Case

Hi,

We have had a plugin that has set a Closing date on a Case when it was Resolved for the first time. Now it has stopped working. I have a modified date that is the correct Closing date, but the Closing date is empty at the moment on many cases. I would like to set the empty field "Closing date" to the Modified on. If I do a workflow and take on Closing Date, modified on, and I reopen the Case. The Closing date will set the date of right now (modified on), which is wrong. I would like to take the previous modifying on date, that was the "Closing Date" and it shouldn't be changed.

Any advices to not getting the new modify on date, i want a date of the time the case was closed, and i don't want it to change.

Thank you so much!

    Hello,

I'm not sure that this is still required but my two cents on this matter nevertheless.

You can try creating an async workflow to run when the case status changes to 'Closed' and then update the 'Closing Date' field as 'ExecutionTime(Process)'. This basically means that the Closing Date will be stamped with the Date time that the workflow is executed ,ie, on the closure of the case.

    Regards,

    Chris M.

Ok. If you want to do that - don't use workflows, use SSIS. In one step - get data from cases - modifiedon and id, in the second - open case, in the third - update Close Date with modified on, in the last one - close case.

Okay, any idea? I just want a modified date to get to the Close Date field. For example, the Modified date is 2015-01-02, the problem is if I do a workflow on modified on, and open up a resolved case, the modified on will be this moment right now, I want to open the case and insert the value of the modified date 2015-01-02.

    Hello,

I'm afraid that can't be done in supported way. When you're onprem you can do it directly in DB but it is not recommended.
