Simultaneous sales process, work (projects) and simple supply as standard

Our company uses Business Central 365 as its ERP, and we need to be able to manage everything from simple single-unit sales to complex projects involving labor, milestones, and so on. However, we have been told from the outset that we must choose one of the two approaches: either work with projects or work with supplies. But we need both systems. Is there a solution for this in Business Central? Is this limitation actually real?

We migrated from a standard Dynamics NAV, and we did not have this limitation there. In that environment, we were able to combine these supply operations with complex projects, including work reports and similar processes. It seems strange to me that Business Central would not allow us to continue with this mixed model.

Is there a specific reason you were told this cannot be done?

Business Central is the successor to NAV, so if it worked in NAV, it should generally be possible in BC as well.

One possible reason it may not work the same way is if there were customizations in NAV that were not carried over to BC.
