CRM Certification Routes

Hi all,

I know this is a bit off-topic and not a technical article but I was hoping to get a bit of advice from other CRM professionals.

I got into Dynamics CRM over 5 years ago and initially trained by working with other team members. Through a mixture of peer-learning and self teaching, I'm where I am today but am aware that I've never been on any training courses or sat any exams.

I was hoping to get people's opinions about where I should start to get my certification up to scratch.

It depends on what you do with CRM, are you a developer/consultant/administration/installation.

    But generally

    Application Certification

Applications exam goes through using the main parts of CRM, Account and contacts, Marketing, Service (case and scheduling).

    MB2-703 - Customization and config

This exam focus on customizing and configuring CRM but without any coding.

    Installation

goes through installating and setting up CRM

There is an extending certification but this is focused on CRM developers and I would start with one of above first.

If you work for a CRM Partner then you can get access to the MOCs, these are the best resource for studying for the exam and you don't really need anything else apart from going into CRM and trying out things.

This blog page has a link to all the MOCs

I would advise studying for the MB2-703 - Customization and config, I would use the MOC's and I also have written some data for you to use with videos and blogs which you can see here

    Fantastic, thanks.

In a previous role, I used to be a developer but am currently a consultant - I still do quite a bit of development (albeit purely JS) and have done a couple of installations. I think the Application Certification is certainly the first step.

I think I'd looked at Customisation and Configuration and this would make a sensible next step once I'd got MB2-868
