Set Status field of Purchase Order to editable

Posted on by 5

Hello I'm trying to create approval workflow using Power Automate. After approved it needs to change Status of Purchase order. I have no issue in updating other field, but  Status field is read only  and giving me error. How to set status field editable ?

For my two cents I think manually changing the status on purchase orders in our sales orders is a bad idea. There are functions within the system that are supposed to happen that will change that status it is a control point and it’s just not a good thing to make that field editable so that it can be changed by users or other processes

    Hello,

Instead of Create a flow, you should use Manage Flows. You can then use a template, search Business Central and choose "Request approval for Dynamics 365 Business Central purchase order".

This will give you same experience as the others here have including me as I just tested the scenario.

    Hope it helps.

    Hello,

Okay, when I am in the office again (tomorrow, w. europe standard time), I will setup a new CDX environment and try the scenario myself. As soon as I have a result, I will let you know.

    Thank you.

This is fresh new database just created from CDX. I didn't install any extension, or data

    Hallo,

Are you able to reproduce this error in a standard unmodified database without any extensions?

    Thank you.

    hi

I ran a test on my sandbox, setting up an approval flow with Power automate

    pastedimage1665410146037v1.png

the flow that is created if successful already sets the Status field to Released on the Sales Order

    pastedimage1665410209615v2.png

    My Example:

    pastedimage1665410427607v6.png

    pastedimage1665410480076v7.png

as you can see, my Status field was modified without my adding a line of code

Yes, I tried that method and this gives me an error. "Status field is read only".

    I've used Update record V3
