Error logging into CRM

I'm hoping someone can give me some additional thoughts here. I've searched online and so far none of the solutions suggested have addressed my issue.

We have CRM 2011 on-premises and for the last few weeks we have been unable to log into it. When we go to the address, we just get an error:

Business Management Error

You are attempting to create a user with a domain logon that does not exist. Select another domain logon and try again.

All suggestions seem to point to the AD Global Catalog, but this all looks OK to me, based on what people have said.  The only thing I can think is that I have been logged into a CRM online instance that I'm trying to set up, but this problem isn't just limited to my login or my computer or to one browser, it's also happening to everyone else in our on-premises instance.

Any thoughts?

James

    RE: Error logging into CRM

Thanks Aaron, no-one can get in. Everyone who tries to access the CRM page gets the same message.

Scott, I had already restarted the CRM Server, thought that might clear it up but it made no difference.

Muhammad, all the users seem to be correct, present in the AD.

I have since opened up a support case with Microsoft and after much investigation it looks like our DNS server has somehow become configured incorrectly. We're still investigating to know for sure, but we're due to continue on with it on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) and I'll post an update when I know for sure that it's the problem.

    Thanks for the suggestions,

    James

    RE: Error logging into CRM

    Hi,

If you used to be able to login and now you can't and it affects all users, it could be due to an issue with connectivity between the CRM server and the Domain Controller. This error can be given if the look up for the server name doesn't work.

I know it's a cliche but have you tried re-booting the CRM Server - this will clear the issue if all is ok with the the Domain Controller now.

Can the Deployment Administrator login or any of the system administrators?
