Work not creating when sales order lines release to warehouse

Hi Community,

When I release a sales order line to the warehouse, I am getting no work being created for that line. The work creation history log says the following:

Item allocation failed. Location directive failure for work order type Sales orders does not allow work creation without location (Pick).

I've attached images of my wave & work template, and location directive setup for context. I am really stuck on what to do to fix this. Thanks in advance for all help!

    Good day,

Can you show the query from the location directive? Can you also show on which location the requested items have been stored?

    Best regards,

In Location directive, did you define the picking location, Location directive >> Pick >> Query. Because error seems, system is not able to find the picking location in location directive and therefore system is not able to generate the work order.

    Check the following.

Make sure the Sales Order Pick location directive has a line and action that match your item, warehouse, and reservation hierarchy.

If the query filters are too narrow, no location will be found.

Confirm the location directive action has a valid fixed or non-fixed location available for the item and that the location meets license plate and stocking restrictions.

Verify that the item has inventory on hand in a location that matches the directive.

Once the Pick directive finds a valid location, the wave will generate work as expected.

Hi Everyone - Thank you for the responses. I will try to work through what was suggested. In the meantime, I have attached a screenshot of my query for my pick in the location directive. Thanks!

    Good day,

Thanks for sharing the query. Is the item stored on location "Test1"?

    Best regards,

    Hi Good Day!.

    Please perform the following checks:

    1. Location Directive -Reset the query. Then add only the location and warehouse filters, instead of removing the default values.

    2. If the item is batch-enabled, ensure that “Batch enabled” is also selected in the Location Directive Actions.

    Thanks,

    Hi Good Day!
Looking at the error means The system attempted to create picking work for the sales order line but It could not find a valid picking location based on your Location Directives. Since the system is configured not to allow work without a location, work creation stops.
    Can you verify below points:
    • On-Hand Inventory in Eligible Locations
    • Missing or Incorrect Location Directive Lines- No directive line matches, Sequence numbers is incorrect.
    • Review Reservation- If reservation exist, Remove reservation->Re-reserve, Re-try release.

    Hello,

The current location directive is configured to support only multiple items. If the sales order contains a single line, it does not support the process.

Please enable an alternative location directive for the Pick work with the scope set to “Single item.”

    Hi

You have to check the location directive (pick) header and line query.

    Possible scenario

1 - The header query could be filtering our your item
2 - The line query is filtering our the location which has the stock for this item.

Please check both query and compare it with your item in action
