FetchXML CRM Online reports limitation?

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello,

I have create a report using BIDS 2008 and have uploaded it to CRM online.  The report appears to be processing, but after a certain amount of time the loading icon disappears and there is no report and no error message, just a blank report.

Is there a limitation to how many records I can perform calculations on in a report?

Thanks,

Devin

    Check out this wiki article:

    CRM 2011 Timeouts and Limits

Query Result Limit: Default is 5,000 records

Fetch Aggregate Limit: Default is 50,000 records

    Hi Jason,

If there is limited to amount of records of 50,000, can this be increased? I am on CRM 2011 Online.

    Thanks,

    Devin

I'm not aware of any method to increase this limit in an online environment. Other options might include replicating your data to another database or create some sort of aggregate records in CRM itself to handle rolling up some of the data ahead of time.

    Hi Jason,

Could you explain to me what you mean by replicating the database or creating some sort of aggregate records in CRM itself?

I am albe to run my report when there is a small amount of records it's retrieving from the database.  The report doesn't run when I add more data to retrieve from the database.  The report appears to be loading, but the stops after about 2 minutes and I end up with a blank report with no grid that was designed in BIDS 2008.

    Thanks,

    Devin

You could use a tool like Scribe to pull the data from your CRM Online database to a local SQL Server instance - then against that database you would not be limited to just use FetchXML when reporting. If you had a large amount of data you were working  - say sales data you could use plugins on the records containing the data (like sales order) and when one of those records is created, updated, etc... you could update a custom entity that holds the total of sales order for the month, day, etc,,, whatever increment fits the amount of data. This way some of the aggregation is done before you report tries to retrieve the data and has to crunch a larger amount of records.

Does your report run against the larger recordset within BIDS? You you know approximately how many records you are querying against?

The 5000 record limit for CRM 2011 Online was removed in a previous update, HOWEVER, the limit has not been removed from the designer itself (BIDS).

If you publish your report to the server and execute it you should see the full results

You can have a look at second suggested solution : mscrmbi.blogspot.fr/.../fetch-xml-5000-records-limitation.html
