SL 2015 Failed to read from an IPC Port: The pipe has been ended.

We have a C# application that is running in multiple environments, including environments at the problem site. It integrates with SL via the object model. Our client has installed a new instance of SL client on a Windows 10 workstation and our application on this workstation is returning the Failed to read from an IPC Port. Any suggestions as how to troubleshoot? Note again that our application is working at multiple sites and multiple clients. The only difference at this particular client is the working environments are Windows 7 and the broken environment is Windows 10.
