how to use Dataverse Browser on premise

I'm trying to use Dataverse Browser (DvBrowser) to inspect all plugins and workflows triggered during an action in my on-premise Dataverse (Dynamics 365) environment.

I've downloaded the project from GitHub and followed the instructions, but I can't seem to connect it to my on-premise instance. Most of the recommendations I found suggest using Dataverse Browser for this kind of inspection, but they seem to refer to online environments.

My goal: I need to inspect all plugins and workflows that run when a specific action is triggered in Dataverse (on-premise). Is it possible to use DvBrowser with on-premise Dataverse? If not, is there an alternative tool that works for this use case?

What I've tried:

  • Downloaded DvBrowser from the GitHub repo.
  • Tried connecting using my on-premise instance URL.
  • The connection fails (no detailed error shown).
Any recommendations please?

Use XrmToolBox + Plugin Trace Viewer or Profiler Plugin:
    1. XrmToolBox
    • Download from: https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/
    • Install these plugins inside it:
      • Plugin Trace Viewer – to inspect all plugins/workflows triggered.
      • Plugin Profiler – to trace synchronous & async plugin executions.
      • Workflow Inspector – for classic workflows (not Power Automate flows).
    2. Steps to Inspect Plugin Execution:
    1. Enable plugin trace logging in CRM:
      • Go to Settings > Administration > System Settings > Customization.
      • Set Plugin Trace Log to All.
    2. Perform the action in CRM.
    3. Open Plugin Trace Viewer from XrmToolBox.
    4. Connect to your on-premise org (uses IFD or direct server connection).
    5. Inspect logs and trace details.
